DENVER (AP) Good luck navigating through the top five of Washington's lineup these days.

It's definitely a pick-your-poison sort of situation.

Trea Turner nearly hit for the cycle for a second straight night, finishing a triple shy, and Bryce Harper had four more hits to run his average to .432 as the Nationals beat the Colorado Rockies 11-4 on Wednesday.

Birthday boy Judge leads Yanks by BoSox

BOSTON (AP) Aaron Judge came running across Fenway Park's right field grass, making his 6-foot-7 frame look a linebacker going for a tackle as he tumbled into the right-field stands to make a catch.

It was a highlight that he'll be able show at future birthday parties.

Paxton dominates after M's DL Hernandez

DETROIT (AP) A night after his team allowed 19 runs and lost a star pitcher to injury, James Paxton took the mound for Seattle and performed like an ace.

Paxton struck out nine in seven outstanding innings, and Nelson Cruz and Guillermo Heredia homered to lift the Mariners to an 8-0 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday. It was just what Seattle needed after losing 19-9 to Detroit on Tuesday and putting right-hander Felix Hernandez on the disabled list before Wednesday's game.

MLB HR leader Thames hurt, Brewers sweep

MILWAUKEE (AP) Eric Thames put a brief scare into the Milwaukee Brewers. Baseball's biggest surprise so far this season says he will be fine.

Thames scored twice before leaving with an injury, and the Brewers beat the Cincinnati Reds 9-4 on Wednesday for a three-game series sweep.

Bucs' Ngoepe 1st African in MLB, has hit

PITTSBURGH (AP) Gift Ngoepe might not have had the weight of the world on his shoulders but he felt like a continent was counting on him.

Ngoepe, the first African to reach the major leagues, singled in his first plate appearance and Josh Harrison led off the bottom of the first with a home run Wednesday night to lead the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 6-5 victory over the Chicago Cubs.

Giants rally, beat Dodgers in 10 on SF

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) Hunter Pence hit a game-winning sacrifice fly with the bases loaded in the 10th inning and the San Francisco Giants rallied to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3 on Wednesday night.

Christian Arroyo and pinch-hitter Michael Morse homered for the Giants (8-14), who avoided matching their worst start in San Francisco after 22 games. The Giants didn't get their first hit until the sixth inning and trailed 3-0 in the seventh before rallying to stun their division rivals.

Shoemaker gets 1st win since head injury

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) Matt Shoemaker got his first win since having brain surgery after being struck in the head by a line drive late last season, and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Oakland Athletics 8-5 on Wednesday night.

Shoemaker (1-1) went five innings in his fifth start of the season. He was injured on a hit in Seattle by Kyle Seager off the right side of his head last September.

Braves' Teheran beats reeling Mets again

NEW YORK (AP) Julio Teheran hasn't lost to the Mets in nearly two years, and New York manager Terry Collins wasn't shocked by his team's reaction when Atlanta tagged Robert Gsellman for five runs in the first inning.

"I think the air came out of the balloon pretty fast," Collins said.

Orioles beat Rays in 11 on 4-pitch walk

BALTIMORE (AP) First, Seth Smith circled the bases on a single. Then, much later in a very strange game, he drove in the winning run without lifting the bat off his shoulder.

Smith drew a bases-loaded, four-pitch walk from Danny Farquhar to force in the deciding run with two outs in the 11th inning, and the Baltimore Orioles rallied to beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-4 on Wednesday night.
