(TSX / STATS) -- New York Giants cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has been suspended indefinitely following a meeting with coach Ben McAdoo on Thursday.

The announcement comes a day after McAdoo said that the Pro Bowl cornerback was suspended after he left the facility before practice, but did not divulge a length of time for the ban. Rodgers-Cromartie can be suspended up to four weeks per the terms of the collective bargaining agreement between the NFL and NFLPA.

"DRC came in yesterday. We had a conversation that was personal upstairs and he came in today," McAdoo said, per NJ Advance Media. "Decided to leave. We will suspend him. ... We had a conversation yesterday. He came into the building this morning. Decided to leave and we will put him on suspension."

Rodgers-Cromartie left the facility because was upset after learning Tuesday he would be inactive for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos.

Rodgers-Cromartie threw his helmet in disgust when he was taken off the field late in Sunday's 27-22 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Rodgers-Cromartie felt he was being a "good soldier" by taking the slot cornerback role, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, and the disagreement apparently dragged into Tuesday's conversation with McAdoo.

Rodgers-Cromartie stands to lose $410,588 each week he is suspended. He has one more season left on the five-year contract he signed before the 2014 season. He has 26 tackles and a half-sack this season.

The 6-foot-2, 203-pound Rodgers-Cromartie is in his 10th NFL season since being drafted No. 16 overall by the Arizona Cardinals in 2008. Before coming to the Giants, he also spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles and Broncos.

To replace Rodgers-Cromartie, the Giants signed cornerback Donte Deayon off their practice squad. Deayon, who is listed at 5-foot-9, 163 pounds, had six tackles and returned an interception for a 36-yard touchdown against the New York Jets this preseason before being released in the final round of cuts this summer.
