Browns GM Dorsey ridicules prior regime

(TSX / STATS) -- New Cleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey didn't wait long to take a shot at the previous regime.

Dorsey took the Sashi Brown-led regime to task on Thursday, saying the group led by the former head of football operations failed to give coach Hue Jackson players that could lead the team to victory.

"You know what? You gotta get a guy like that players. And you know what, I'll come straight out with it, the guys who were here before and that system, they didn't get real players," Dorsey said in an interview on 850 WKNR-AM, via


Osweiler strong in relief as Broncos win

(TSX / STATS) -- INDIANAPOLIS -- For Brock Osweiler, it was a matter of being ready when called upon.

Osweiler was Thursday night, throwing for two touchdowns and running for another to lead the Denver Broncos to a 25-13 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.


Giants place G Pugh on injured reserve

(TSX / STATS) -- New York Giants guard Justin Pugh will be placed on season-ending injured reserve, interim coach Steve Spagnuolo announced Thursday.

Pugh, who has missed five games with a back ailment, met with Dr. Robert Watkins of the Watkins Spine Group in California to seek a second opinion.


Lions OL to miss key players vs. Bears

Eagles' Ertz clears concussion protocol

(TSX / STATS) -- Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz has cleared concussion protocol, coach Doug Pederson said Wednesday.

"He's good to go," Pederson said of Ertz, who sustained a concussion during the third quarter of a 24-10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Dec. 3.


Ex-NFL RB Larry Johnson feels he has CTE

(TSX / STATS) -- Former NFL running back Larry Johnson said in an interview he believes he suffers from chronic traumatic encephalopathy, a brain disease known as CTE.

CTE, which doctors say can be caused by repeated blows to the head, only can be diagnosed after death.


Bills QB Taylor likely to start Sunday

(TSX / STATS) -- ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- In what has been an almost weekly question surrounding the Buffalo Bills since head coach Sean McDermott made the ill-fated decision to start Nathan Peterman for a game a month ago in Los Angeles, McDermott did not have a definitive answer on who would start Sunday's home finale against Miami.

Tyrod Taylor, who regained his starting job following Peterman's five-interception implosion in the first half of the Week 9 game against the Chargers but played average at best in the next two games, missed last week's victory over Indianapolis due to a contusion on his knee.


Seahawks hurting on defense before Rams

(TSX / STATS) -- RENTON, Wash. -- With five Pro Bowl defensive players potentially out for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams, the Seattle Seahawks face a tall task in their pursuit to make the playoffs for a sixth straight season.
