Raiders lure RB Lynch out of retirement

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) Marshawn Lynch is coming out of retirement after agreeing on a two-year deal with the Raiders that paved the way for a trade to his hometown team in Oakland.

Lynch passed a physical Wednesday and agreed to a restructured two-year contract. Those were the final steps needed before Seattle could trade his rights along with a 2018 sixth-round pick to the Raiders for a 2018 fifth-rounder.

NFL Network said Lynch would get a $3 million base deal this season, with a chance to make an additional $2 million if he rushes for at least 1,000 yards.

Inmate says Hernandez hinted at suicide

BOSTON (AP) Aaron Hernandez hinted about suicide weeks before he was found hanging by a bedsheet in prison last week, according to a jailhouse friend who once sought to share a cell with the former NFL star.

Lawrence Army Jr., an attorney for inmate Kyle Kennedy, said Wednesday that Hernandez wrote in a letter to his client: "I think I'm going to hang it up."

Star CB Conley: Rape allegations false

CLEVELAND (AP) Former Ohio State football star Gareon Conley says he plans to skip attending the NFL draft in person on Thursday and decried allegations that he raped a woman as "completely false."

No charges have been filed as police investigate claims made by a 23-year-old woman that he assaulted her in a Cleveland hotel on April 9. Conley was named in a police report that details the allegations but no information has been forwarded to prosecutors.

Atty.: Eli didn't give fake memorabilia

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) Attorneys for New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning are trying to convince a judge that the dealers suing the two-time Super Bowl MVP tried to pressure him to settle a memorabilia lawsuit by releasing select notes that weren't related to the disputed goods.

Emails released by the court on Wednesday were part of a motion seeking sanctions and legal fees against one of the plaintiffs' attorneys after he released an email from Manning in 2010 that seemed to indicate he provided fake memorabilia rather than authentic game-used goods.

Packers sign 6-time Pro Bowl OL Evans

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) The Green Bay Packers have signed veteran offensive lineman Jahri Evans as they look to fill a hole up front left by the departure of free agent-right guard T.J. Lang.

Terms of the agreement were not announced Wednesday by general manager Ted Thompson.

Packers' Allison settles marijuana case

MANITOWOC, Wis. (AP) Green Bay Packers receiver Geronimo Allison has reached a deal with prosecutors to settle a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge.

Allison will pay $330.50 to settle the charge after it was amended Tuesday to an ordinance violation. WLUK-TV reports he also will be required to complete community service.

Hernandez subject of true crime book

NEW YORK (AP) Aaron Hernandez, the former NFL player and convicted murderer found hanging by a bedsheet in prison last week, will be the subject of an upcoming true crime book by best-selling author James Patterson.

Little, Brown and Co. told The Associated Press on Thursday that Patterson's book, not yet titled, is scheduled for early 2018. Patterson is also putting together a collection of true crime stories in partnership with Investigation Discovery, to come out on the TV network and in print next January.

Steelers' Bryant reinstated from '16 ban

PITTSBURGH (AP) Martavis Bryant's yearlong suspension is over.

The NFL conditionally reinstated the Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver on Tuesday, clearing the way for the talented but enigmatic Bryant to return to the team to prepare for the 2017 season. The league suspended Bryant in March 2016 for a second violation of its substance abuse policy.

Saints, RB Peterson agree to 2-year deal

NEW ORLEANS (AP) Adrian Peterson, the NFL's most productive running back for much of the past decade, has decided to head into the twilight of his career as a potential backup in New Orleans' pass-happy offense.

The Saints on Tuesday came to terms on a two-year contract with Peterson, a 10-year veteran who has posted seven 1,000-yard seasons with Minnesota and once eclipsed 2,000 yards.

LB Washington reinstated from 3-year ban

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) The NFL says it has reinstated Arizona Cardinals inside linebacker Daryl Washington on a conditional basis three years after he was suspended for multiple violations of the league's substance abuse policy.

The NFL said in a statement that Washington, a second-team All-Pro in 2012, may rejoin the Cardinals to participate in meetings, conditioning work and similar activities.
